Seeking to Serve
“My family and I have been members of MRPC for twelve years. We have been privileged to participate in hearing the Word preached, developing community with members, sharing the joys and trials of life with a body of believers who know us, encourage us and pray for us.
Missions have always held a high priority in our family. Rob and I have served in short-term medical missions trips, witnessed both parents serving on mission trips and participated in the annual Mission’s Conference here at MRPC. We realize that worship involves more than just sitting in the pews on Sunday mornings, it involves participating in the advancement of the kingdom of God locally and abroad.
“We are blessed to be a blessing,” a missionary once said at our very own Children’s Mission Conference. My family and I have been richly blessed and we seek to be a blessing to others.
We have the unique opportunity to put this into practice here in our community. My family and I are in the process of becoming a Safe Family in Greenville County. This is a new ministry in Greenville under the umbrella of Bethany Christian Services. Greenville is one of only seven cities in the United States who provide Safe Families for children who are in crisis. This ministry offers children a safe place to live on a temporary basis as an alternative to foster care. We feel that this is a wonderful opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus to children right in our own community.
There are many emotions that surface with the possibility of serving in this ministry. We are excited about the adventure and “newness” yet scared and apprehensive at the unknown. However, we desire to share the love and security that we have experienced with other children and hopefully have the opportunity to share the love of Jesus with them.
Would you pray for us and will you consider opening your home to children in need?
May the Lord be glorified by our feeble and broken hands seeking to serve Him!”
