Community Groups

Experience the joy of being a part of an authentic, Christ-seeking community.  Currently, 33 groups, with members from all ages and walks of life, meet together in homes around Greenville County on Sunday evenings. On Sunday evenings from 5:30pm to 7:00pm, Community Groups share a meal together, discuss relevant material from the current sermon series, pray, and support one another in faith and love - in a relaxed setting.

For more information or to join a group, please contact Mark Reed, Assistant Pastor for Groups and Discipleship, at mreed@mitchellroad.org. To see a map of Host Homes, click here, or for frequently asked questions, click here.

"My first experience at Mitchell Road was through a community group.  A friend invited me to come to community group dinner with her even though I was not currently attending Mitchell Road. I had never gone to a small group meeting before and was a little nervous to first attend.
I was surprised at what I found there.  In the first meeting, I was greeted as if I had always been a part of the group and loved the sense of community that I found while sitting and eating dinner.  Then when we moved to the discussion part of the evening, I was amazed at how comfortable everyone felt with sharing about his or her faith.  I had not heard the
sermon, but the answers to the questions and discussion that followed was so
honest.  It was a breath of fresh air for me.

I have now been going to the same community group for two years and I still get excited for Sunday nights.  My community group has become another type of family for me.  Not only do I feel welcome there, but I have also found myself sharing a vulnerability of faith with others that I never imagined possible.  The main aspect of community groups that I feel blessed in is
that I have discovered a longing for a relationship with God rather than a religion.  God has shown Himself through the wonderful people in my group - I've experienced His kindness, wisdom, generosity, and deep love for us.  I still find it funny that I am continually surprised how God works in my life – that He has a much greater plan than I could ever imagine. This all has opened my eyes to a longing that has always been inside me – a true and deep
relationship with God."

"Community groups have provided a way for me to form relationships with people I would normally not cross paths with at church. It's especially been awesome to meet people at Mitchell Road from other age groups. They have truly created a better sense of community.”

"It has been great meeting and getting to know more young couples and sharing stories together. I have really enjoyed having accountability with some of the guys in the group. I have enjoyed talking about the sermon from that morning and hearing everybody's thoughts. "

"Community group is great to connect in a deeper way to the church. It is so encouraging to hear about other's walks with the Lord from all stages of life."
